FENG SHUI IS NOT A RELIGION – IT WILL NOT INFLUENCE THE ENERGY IN YOUR HOME AT ALL
Our world is divided into many different belief systems. Firstly, Feng Shui is not a Religion. It can be applied worldwide regardless of what your belief is. As a matter of fact, symbolism does not play any role in Feng Shui. The 5-Elements and Yin Yang Theory are where the importance lies in. At the same time, we are very well are aware that a Feng Shui altar of your belief is welcomed into the home. Of course, there are some guidelines that needs to be followed:
VERY IMPORTANT
The Altar is a Fire Element which needs to be placed with great care. The Permanent Energy Chart of the home will give a clear answer of where and where not to put it. Be also careful to place a fish tank nearby as Water and Fire will clash.
Show Respect
The god should be honored at all cost. To show disrespect should not be allowed in any way. This to say, a god should never be placed on the ground or in an area that is unworthy.
Feng Shui Altar Placement / Location of the Altar:
As much as you like to place an Feng Shui altar in a desired area, watch out for these pitfalls:
This is not allowed for a Feng Shui altar:
- Do not place the Feng Shui altar under a beam or under a staircase. It literally means that you step on the head every time you go up and down the stairs.
- If a bathroom is upstairs or the altar is placed on a toilet wall, please look for another place as it shows no respect.
- The Feng Shui altar should be at least higher than the shoulder and nothing else should be above the altar. This means no A/C, no photos, or beams.
- A kitchen or bathroom door which faces the Altar is a big No No. These places are considered bad for gods as they are not considered the cleanest areas inside the home. Can you imagine if your god takes a peak of how to take a shower or sit on the toilet? In like fashion, the kitchen can become a battlefield when food is prepared. This messy view is for sure not suitable for an almighty god to look at.
- Keep the area clean around it. In all worship places, a polished atmosphere is in place to be in peace.
- Do not place the altar on the opposite side of a mirror. The spirit get shocked once it bounces off it.
- Do not place the Feng Shui altar next to an Aquarium. The Fire & Water Element will clash in a bad way.
- Avoid to place the Altar in the North-East or South-West. Here, the Devil’s Gate and Back-gate are located. It can attract evil spirits
- The 81 flying star combination contains a notorious pair of numbers, 9-7, which is widely known for causing fire accidents. Due to the strong fire element associated with altars and gods, it is advised not to place them within the permanent energy section of 9-7 in your home, as this could increase the risk of fire.
- It’s important to ensure that there is enough space for the altar table and that no doors hit it.
- When positioning the altar table, it’s recommended to avoid direct sunlight on the god statues throughout the day. While some natural sunlight is pleasant, it’s essential to create a balanced environment for the deities.
- It’s also best to avoid placing the altar where it can be directly viewed from any bedroom, particularly if older adults or children spend a lot of time in those rooms with open doors.
Altar facing main door
The topic of placing an altar facing the main door is controversial, with varying opinions from masters. In residential houses, it’s generally acceptable to have an altar opposite the main door, as long as it does not directly face the neighbor’s home. It’s considered impolite in many cultures to have a god or deity altar in full view of the neighbor’s entrance.
Additionally, placing an altar at the entrance might reveal your religious beliefs, which might lead to disagreements with neighbors who hold diverse religious views. Therefore, it’s best to pray in private. Nevertheless, an altar can also act as a security guard to fend off evil, particularly if you are worried about some of your neighbors.
This is allowed for a Feng Shui altar:
- Some Gods are believed to protect the home. Try to find a position that faces the front door so that the god guards and protect the house.
- Of course, a separate room to worship only is the most ideal
- If can, let the god face to a window or door to let enjoy the beauty on the outside world
- Place the Feng Shui altar only at a solid wall. By all means, the god needs solid support from behind.
- The area of the home should be Yin (quite)
- Remember to change your offerings, and also do not let old flowers or food rot in front of the god
- The altar should be in the Lucky Destiny Section (Flying Star)
